The American actress and director, who has a home in Puerto Banús, claims that the city offers her the tranquility she doesn't find in Los Angeles.
The actress and businesswoman Eva Longoria has once again put Marbella on the map of the international star system's favourite destinations. In an interview with a fashion magazine, the 'Desperate Housewives' star stated that the Costa del Sol city is her personal refuge to escape the frantic pace of Hollywood.
"I tell my friends that when I come here, I can breathe easy because there’s no rush," confesses Longoria, 51. The actress, who purchased a home near Puerto Banús a few years ago, highlights that in Marbella she finds a quality of life that she lacks in her Californian routine.
A love that began twenty years ago
Longoria's relationship with Marbella dates back two decades, when her close friend María Bravo, the godmother of her son, first took her to the city. "María is my best friend, my comadre, and she showed me how beautiful this city is, not just a place with a beach, but a place with many more options and very welcoming people," the actress recounted in statements to Woman magazine.
What started as a one-off visit turned into a love story. Longoria bought a property near the marina, and since then, the Costa del Sol has been her second home. "For me, Marbella is a home and a way of life," she emphasises.
Beach, paddle and family life
Far from the stress of Los Angeles, the actress enjoys a much calmer routine. "The food is good, it’s next to the beach, you can run, you can walk, I can be at the beach with my son all day, go shopping... There are so many things to experience!" she lists.
Among her favourite plans in Marbella, Longoria highlights paddle, one of her preferred sports, and visits to Playa Padre, one of the city's most iconic beach clubs. The actress advocates for a simpler way of understanding summer, where walking without haste, eating well, and spending time with family become priorities.
"Everyone knows its glamour, but there is also a very everyday and family-oriented Marbella," adds the actress, who has become one of the most illustrious ambassadors of the destination.
The value of disconnecting
Longoria's statements coincide with recommendations from wellness experts. Emotional intelligence coach Ixi Ávila explains that "disconnecting means allowing both the body and mind to leave that constant state of alertness we are usually subjected to." According to the specialist, when this happens, stress levels decrease, sleep quality improves, and a lost sense of well-being is regained.
Studies indicate that changing environments, walking more slowly, spending time outdoors, or enjoying conversations without looking at the phone promote a decrease in cortisol. "The result usually translates into a better mood, greater mental clarity, and a renewed sense of energy when we return to our routine," adds Ávila.
Marbella, with its privileged climate and leisure offerings, thus consolidates itself as an ideal destination for those seeking to regain balance. And if a Hollywood star confirms it, perhaps you don’t have to go far to find it.
