The lifeguard service on the beaches of Manilva closed the month of July with a total of 222 interventions, according to the report submitted by the local company SOCOSOL to the councillor for Beaches, Gema Zotano. The report reflects the intense activity carried out during the peak period of bathers on the coast.
The most frequent attentions were minor injuries, with 35 actions for cuts, abrasions, or splinters, followed by jellyfish stings, which required 25 assists. There were also eight traumas or dislocations, thirteen episodes of general discomfort, five skin irritations, and two ocular issues.
Among the most significant actions, the lifeguards carried out five rescues, two coordinated activations with emergency services 112 and 061, and one transfer to a healthcare centre. Additionally, they participated in the search for two missing persons and conducted 27 assisted baths for people with reduced mobility.
The report highlights the preventive role of the service, with 65 preventive actions aimed at avoiding risky situations before they require intervention. They also provided 27 health advice tips to beach users.
The councillor for Beaches, Gema Zotano, has thanked the professionalism of the lifeguard team and emphasised their daily work to ensure the safety of bathers. Both the councillor and SOCOSOL remind the public of the importance of respecting the meaning of the flags and exercising caution when sea conditions are adverse.
The service will remain active throughout the rest of the summer season, with special attention to weekends and peak times on the beaches of Manilva.
