The Casa de la Cultura in Fuengirola will host a cycle of four award-winning films from the Wild Oceans FilmFest in September and October. The first free session will be on September 15 with 'Soul of the Ocean'.
The Casa de la Cultura Manuel Delgado Perea in Fuengirola will host a special film cycle dedicated to ocean conservation during September and October, organised by the Fuengirola City Council and the Bioparc Foundation. This initiative brings to the city for the first time a selection of four films awarded in previous editions of the Wild Oceans FilmFest (WOFF), the international marine film festival that has used audiovisual tools since 2022 to raise awareness and educate about the protection of marine ecosystems.
The Councillor for Culture, Rodrigo Romero, and the communication officer of Bioparc, Rocío Barquero, presented the programme this Tuesday, which adds to the cultural offerings of the municipality with the aim of bringing some of the most outstanding productions of the festival closer to residents and visitors.
The cycle will kick off on September 15 at 20:00 with the screening of 'Soul of the Ocean', a documentary showcasing the diversity of the underwater world with images captured over more than a decade, focusing on the cooperation between species inhabiting the oceans.
The second session will be on September 22 with 'Ocean with David Attenborough', a production by National Geographic featuring the British naturalist. The feature film explores the planet's oceans and advocates for the need to advance their protection and conservation, also serving as a tribute to Attenborough on the occasion of his centenary.
The remaining two sessions will take place in October, with their titles and dates to be announced soon. All films will be screened in their original English version with Spanish subtitles and entry will be free until full capacity of the room is reached.
The Bioparc Foundation carries out its work through the Bioparc parks in Valencia and Fuengirola and the Gijón Aquarium, aiming to raise awareness of the richness of nature and promote its conservation.
The cycle is part of the collaboration between the City Council and the Bioparc Foundation and coincides with the fifth edition of the Wild Oceans FilmFest, which will be held at the Bioparc Aquarium in Gijón from November 2 to 7. Fuengirola thus joins as a venue for this special cycle, allowing free enjoyment of award-winning productions and a closer look at marine biodiversity.
