Fuengirola City Council has tendered the renovation works for Luis Braille square, located in the city centre, with a budget of €172,788 and an execution period of 55 days. Companies can submit bids until September 29.
Luis Braille square in Fuengirola will be getting a makeover. The City Council has put out to tender the renovation of this pedestrian space situated between Avenida Condes de San Isidro and Calle María Vega Sánchez, at the height of Calle Oviedo, with an initial budget of €172,788 and a completion period of 55 days.
The mayor, Ana Mula, presented the project alongside the councillor for Infrastructure, José Sánchez, and the councillor responsible for the city centre, Cristina Bornao. Mula explained that the square “needed an intervention” to adapt it to current needs and improve its aesthetics, functionality, accessibility, and safety.
“Since the Popular Party has been governing Fuengirola, we have made a significant effort to renew our public spaces. We have acted in all neighbourhoods and areas of the city, but we know that the maintenance and modernisation of a city is a continuous task.”
The project includes the renewal of the pavement with a combination of prefabricated concrete and terrazzo, a new design that will provide greater space and improve the drainage of surface water. The existing ramp and stairs will also be addressed to enhance their conditions.
The public lighting points will be renewed with modern elements that provide greater comfort, and the supply networks will be improved, including the meshing of existing installations and the creation of new drains connected to the sewage system.
The work includes the tidying up of the underground containers and the renewal of urban furniture. The bust dedicated to Luis Braille will receive specific intervention to improve its conservation and enhance its value within the new space.
The square currently has a slope between Calle María Vega Sánchez and Avenida Condes de San Isidro, which is overcome by a staircase and an adjacent ramp. The project will allow for improvements to these elements to enhance accessibility and comfort for users.
Companies interested in carrying out the works can submit their bids until September 29 at 23:59 hours.
