Fuengirola City Council deploys the largest security operation in recent years for the Feria del Rosario, with over 420 Local Police services, enhanced bus services until 4:00 AM, and 62 cleaning operatives, 30 of whom are newly hired.

Fuengirola City Council has presented the security, mobility, and cleaning operation for the Feria del Rosario 2026, which kicks off with more than 420 specific Local Police services focused on the Fairground and the busiest areas. The Chief of Local Police, Sergio Luna, explained that the operation has been reinforced in areas with the highest foot and vehicle traffic, such as La Loma park, La Calerita, Rosario park, and the Plaza de la Hispanidad.

The operation will consist of three shifts: 15 officers in the morning, 22 in the afternoon, and another 22 at night. The Local Police will be joined by units from the National Police (UPR) during the afternoons and nights, as well as the Mounted Unit, which will focus on the horse riders' promenade between 12:00 PM and 8:00 PM. Firefighters will be permanently stationed at the Emergency Coordination Centre, located near the Palacio de la Paz.

“In addition to the specific operation focused on the Fairground and surrounding areas, we maintain ordinary services to address requests throughout the city, ensuring that Fuengirola will not be unattended despite the extensive deployment for the Fair.”

Luna emphasized that ordinary services will continue across the rest of the municipality and urged citizen cooperation: “We ask for collaboration, responsibility, common sense, to use public transport, not to use private vehicles unnecessarily, to respect the reserved parking spaces for local residents near the Fairground, and, above all, to respect the rules of coexistence.”

In terms of mobility, the area coordinated by Councillor Isabel González has created additional parking areas on Avenida de Andalucía, where the layout of the parking has been changed from parallel to angled in both directions, and two plots on either side of the avenue have been added to the parking on Matagorda street. During the fair days, an extraordinary bus service will operate until 4:00 AM, and taxi services will be available at the entrance to the Fairground.

Cleaning will be managed by 62 operatives, of whom 30 are newly hired, as highlighted by Councillor Carmen Díaz, who noted that this measure also “promotes job creation in our city.” The operation will have continuous coverage 24 hours a day, and preliminary work has already begun, such as cleaning the sidewalks with a disc. The special operation will commence on the 7th, coinciding with the Patron's festival: during the procession, five operatives will be dedicated to cleaning, and in the afternoon, the city centre will be reinforced. Additionally, there will be an extraordinary door-to-door collection of organic waste at the booths.
