The Fuengirola City Council has allocated over 830,000 euros this summer for improvement and maintenance work in public educational centres. The mayor, Ana Mula, highlighted the bond with the educational community during the inauguration of the school year at CEIP El Tejar.
The Fuengirola City Council has invested more than 830,000 euros over the summer in improvement and maintenance work on the city's public schools, according to the local government. The mayor, Ana Mula, announced this figure during the inauguration ceremony for the 2026/2027 school year, held at CEIP El Tejar.
The actions have included improvements to facilities, sports courts, and access, as well as maintenance work, gardening, health control, and fire prevention across all educational centres. Among the most significant interventions is the installation of a roof at CEIP Valdelecrín, with an investment of 443,362 euros that will begin imminently, and the renewal of the electrical installation at CEIP Sohail, costing 173,119 euros.
The event was attended by the territorial delegate for Educational Development and Vocational Training and for University, Research and Innovation, Miguel Briones; the councillor for Education, Carmen Díaz; representatives from the government team; directors of primary and secondary schools in the municipality; teachers; non-teaching staff; members of the AMPAs; students and families.
During her speech, Mula emphasised the coordination among the various educational agents and thanked all the groups for their involvement. The mayor highlighted the municipal commitment to the well-being of students and the proper functioning of the centres.

The mayor also highlighted the “fluid and constant” relationship with the centres through regular meetings with management teams, school councils, and AMPAs, which allows for the detection of needs and the provision of coordinated responses. In this regard, she stated that this is an example of the “Fuengirola Model” of management.
Municipal actions are complemented by those promoted by the Junta de Andalucía, such as the recovery of the cafeteria at CEIP El Tejar after the fire suffered just over a year ago and the expansion of IES Los Boliches. The event featured the participation of two students from CEIP El Tejar and a performance by the school's rock band.
