The City Council of Fuengirola has allocated 831,000 euros in July and August to prepare its educational centres. Notable works include the electrical renovation of Sohail school and the adaptation of the sports pitch at El Tejar for roller hockey.
The City Council of Fuengirola has invested 831,000 euros during July and August in preparing the city's educational centres, as reported by the Councillor for Education, Carmen Díaz.
Among the most significant actions is the comprehensive renovation of the electrical installation at Sohail school, carried out with a budget of 173,000 euros. The councillor explained that this was a much-needed action because it is the oldest school in Fuengirola, and in recent years services such as cafeterias and air conditioning have been added, requiring a complete update.
All the doors of the Infant classrooms at Los Boliches school, damaged by termites, have also been replaced, with an investment of 20,000 euros. The sports pitch at El Tejar school has been adapted for roller hockey at a cost of 42,245 euros, as it will temporarily host the Sports School for this modality while the new Santa Fe stadium is being built.
Additionally, the City Council is in the process of creating a cover for the pitch at Valdelecrín school, the last educational centre in the city without one. The project has a budget of 441,000 euros.
“There are only a few days left until the start of the school year, and during July and August, many actions are carried out by different departments to prepare our schools. We also take advantage of the fact that the centres are without academic activity to carry out more complex work and even projects that would not be possible during the school year,” said Carmen Díaz.
Regarding ordinary work, fumigation, hyperchlorination, cleaning of water tanks, clearing, pruning, and inspection of fire extinguishers have been carried out. The deep cleaning inside the schools began on August 16, and this week the work is intensifying in the playgrounds and sidewalks surrounding the centres with disc machinery. Starting next week, it will extend to Secondary and Baccalaureate institutes.
