The municipal programme Fuengirola in Shape celebrates its fourth edition with 21 outdoor proposals throughout September, including new events such as the first Novel Bodybuilding Challenge and the 'Hybrid Run'. The activities are free and for all ages.
The Town Hall of Fuengirola has presented the fourth edition of Fuengirola in Shape, a programme of outdoor sports activities that will take place throughout the month of September. The initiative includes 21 free proposals for all ages and fitness levels, including street classes, a charity night marathon spinning event, the Pedro Cuevas Mile, and new events like the first Novel Bodybuilding Challenge and the 'Hybrid Run'.
The mayor, Ana Mula, and the Councillor for Sports, Julio Rodríguez, announced the programme this Wednesday. Mula stated that the aim is to "encourage the people of Fuengirola to adopt healthy lifestyle habits" as they return to their routines. "We are committed to sports in all areas: from those who practice it for enjoyment to those who are fortunate enough to be professionals in some discipline," she noted.
The programme kicks off on September 4 with the IV Inclusive Fishing Competition and continues with events such as the III Route 091 Race of the National Police (September 5), the IV Memorial Juan Soto 'El Chope' (September 6), and the 3x3 Basketball Tournament (September 6). From September 10 to 14, the XV High Sea Fishing Championship 'Memorial Pedro Cuevas' will take place, and on September 12, it will be the turn of the Popular Games Fair, the Beach Volleyball Tournament, and the 'Hybrid Run'.
On September 18, the charity night marathon spinning event is scheduled, while the weekend of the 19th and 20th will host the VI Test of the Andalusian Squash Circuit, the Inclusive Sports Day, the 'Sea Path' Hiking event, and the IX Pedro Cuevas Mile. The #BeActive Week will be held from September 23 to 30, and on September 26, the Family Paddle Surf Meeting, the Novel Bodybuilding Challenge, and the running meet will take place. The programme will conclude on September 27 with the Final of the III Fair Futsal Cup 'Pedro Cuevas' and the IV Women's Futsal Fair Tournament 'Rafael Pino'.
The activities will take place in public spaces such as Plaza Pedro Cuevas, the beach, Plaza de España, the Fuengirola Free Area, the Promenade, and municipal sports facilities. The organisation is managed by the Sports Department, with collaboration from the Provincial Council in some cases and support from local clubs and gyms.
Mula has thanked these entities for their involvement "to make it easier for the people of Fuengirola to practice sports or, in some cases, to get to know some of them." The mayor has encouraged residents to "start the return to routine by practicing sports with any of these activities," reminding them that "exercise and maintaining good habits is essential for a healthy life."
