The town of Málaga will see an investment of over 523,000 euros for the repair of the roofs of the Secondary Education Institute (IES) Number 1 Universidad Laboral. This action has been awarded by the Andalusian Public Agency for Education and is part of the 'Andalucía Actúa' plan.
Details of the work
The financing amounts to 523,773.86 euros and the expected execution period is four months. The works will be carried out by a temporary union of companies made up of Geprosur S.L. and Rofez S.L.
The main objective of this work is to solve the problems of leaks and dampness in the roofs of the school. These deficiencies have been caused by the lack of waterproofing in the roofs, which were damaged after the storm that affected the area in February.
Comprehensive intervention
During the intervention, the current roofs will be demolished, and two new layers with waterproofing will be installed. This will ensure the watertightness of the building, which was constructed in the late 1970s.
Additionally, the repair will cover the internal damages caused by water ingress, ensuring an adequate environment for students and staff of the educational centre.
This initiative is part of a larger effort by the Junta de Andalucía to rehabilitate educational infrastructures damaged by the harsh weather conditions of last winter. The contracting of these works has been carried out through a framework agreement designed to facilitate the awarding and commencement of projects of up to one million euros.
