Fuengirola honours six Local Police officers for 20 years of service

The Fuengirola City Council has awarded six decorations for service in the force and 20 distinctions for outstanding actions at the patron's event, San Rafael Arcángel. The mayor, Ana Mula, highlights the 7.4% decrease in crime in the municipality.

The Fuengirola City Council has recognised six Local Police officers for their 20 years of service and has acknowledged 20 outstanding actions during the 2025 and 2026 terms. The awards were presented this Friday in the Royal Hall of the City Council, following a mass held at the Church of Carmen, on the occasion of the Feast of San Rafael Arcángel, the patron of the institution, which will soon celebrate 100 years of service to the city.

The event was presided over by the mayor, Ana Mula, who praised the collaborative work of the security forces and highlighted data from the Ministry of the Interior for the second quarter of 2026: a 7.4% decrease in crime in Fuengirola and a 7.8% drop in criminal offences.

“Fuengirola is a safe and orderly city. These figures reflect the great coordination work between the Local Police and the National Police. The work our Security forces do is arduous; but we will agree that it is infinitely better when we all join our forces,” the mayor stated.

Mula recalled the special operation deployed last summer, with over 10,500 hours of service resulting in more than 13,000 actions related to security, order, and coexistence. Additionally, she emphasised the 32% increase in humanitarian and assistance interventions, including help for disoriented individuals in public spaces, health requests, suicide attempts, or assistance for elderly people who had fallen in the street or at home.
