The renowned pediatrician Abby Murgio, with 43 years of experience and recently awarded as Best Pediatric Specialist 2025-2026, will present his work 'Caring Without Borders' tomorrow, Friday 3rd July, in the Sala Alfonso Gil Alfonso at the Casa de Las Tejerinas.

Dr. Abby Murgio, pediatrician at the Vithas Xanit Estepona Hospital, will offer a presentation of his book 'Caring Without Borders' tomorrow, Friday 3rd July at 18:30 in the Sala Alfonso Gil Alfonso at the Casa de Las Tejerinas. The work, which collects real stories experienced in hospitals and night shifts, aims to show that pediatric care goes beyond medical healing.

A 43-year career dedicated to children

Abby Murgio has an extensive career that began at the University of Padua, where he specialised in Pediatrics. He has been a direct collaborator for four years with the Nobel Prize winner in Medicine Rita Levi Montalcini, and has coordinated pediatric projects in 18 countries worldwide. Additionally, he has participated in humanitarian missions such as the Rotary Foundation's Polio 0 Project in Uttar Pradesh (India) and in relief efforts following the earthquakes in Manila (Philippines) in 1990 and Kenya (Africa) in 1992.

Recently, the European Academy of Paediatrics awarded him the title of Best Pediatric Specialist 2025-2026, a recognition of his career and dedication. He has also been honoured with the University Honor Medal.

A book that connects with the Estepona reader

For the residents of Estepona, the presentation of this book represents a unique opportunity to get to know the work of a professional who practices in their own municipality. "Caring Without Borders is a human journey through childhood, accompanying boys and girls in hospitals, with night shifts, with so many shared silences," explained Murgio himself. The work, according to the author, gathers real stories that demonstrate that caring goes far beyond healing.

The event, which is free to enter, will take place in the Sala Alfonso Gil Alfonso at the Casa de Las Tejerinas, a cultural space that usually hosts literary and artistic events. Attendees will be able to purchase copies of the book and, likely, chat with the doctor after the presentation.

A reference in international pediatrics

Murgio has published in several international journals and has coordinated multidisciplinary teams worldwide. His experience in conflict zones and natural disasters has given him a global perspective on child health. "Caring Without Borders" precisely reflects that philosophy: medicine knows no geographical or cultural boundaries.

The event promises to be an intimate gathering, where the audience can discover anecdotes and reflections from a pediatrician who has dedicated his life to children. The appointment is tomorrow at 18:30; there is no excuse to miss it if one lives on the Costa del Sol.
