The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated the orange alert for maximum temperatures in Estepona, a municipality on the Western Costa del Sol, for this Friday. The warning, which also affects other localities in the region and the Guadalhorce Valley, forecasts that thermometers will reach 36 degrees Celsius.
According to AEMET's forecast, the day will begin with few clouds during the early morning and midday, while from mid-afternoon the sky will be completely clear. Minimum temperatures will be around 21 degrees, with light winds from the west.
The orange alert implies a significant risk to the population, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and those with chronic illnesses. Authorities recommend avoiding sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, staying hydrated, and paying attention to symptoms of heat stroke.
For Saturday, AEMET predicts a decrease in maximum temperatures to 33 degrees, with clear skies and light winds from the west. Minimums will experience slight changes but will remain at similar values. On Sunday, the heat will ease with maximums of 31 degrees and minimums of 19, with no chance of precipitation and gentle breezes from the south.
The Estepona City Council has reminded residents that they can check updated weather reports on the AEMET website and through official municipal channels. Additionally, an information phone line has been set up for emergencies related to heat.
