Cineclub Más Madera begins its 35th season in Benalmádena on October 1 with screenings on Thursdays and special activities. On November 26, it will screen 'Amantes', the film that opened the cycle in 1991.
The Cineclub Más Madera in Benalmádena kicks off its 35th season on Thursday, October 1 at the Casa de la Cultura de Arroyo de la Miel. The first screening will be the French comedy 'Los Músicos', directed by Gregory Magne, as reported by the Culture Area of the Benalmádena City Council.
Screenings will take place on Thursdays at 20:00 hours at the Casa de la Cultura, except for the cineforum and other parallel activities, which may be held at different times. The programme includes titles such as 'Tres Adioses', the latest Italian production by Isabel Coixet; 'Yo no moriré de amor', winner of the Biznaga de Oro at the Málaga Festival; 'Rebuilding', by Max W. Silverman; 'La receta perfecta' and 'Marielle lo sabe todo'.
The highlight of the season will come on November 26, exactly 35 years since the first session of the cineclub in 1991. To commemorate this, Más Madera will screen 'Amantes', by Vicente Aranda, the same film that was shown then.
In December, the programme will continue with 'Mentes Maravillosas', in a session dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, organised together with the ABAD association, whose members will attend the screening. Before the Christmas holidays, 'Palestina 36' will also be shown.
The season will maintain the quarterly cineforum, this time focused on the anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, with the participation of specialists and the public. Additionally, the cineclub will continue collaborating with the International Short Film and Alternative Cinema Festival of Benalmádena (FICCAB), sponsoring the award for the best Málaga short film and participating in the festival week. It will also be present at the Semana Flamenca of the Peña La Repompa with the screening of 'Acuérdate de mí' and will continue with initiatives aimed at schools and senior centres in the municipality.
The Councillor for Culture, Jésica Trujillo, has congratulated the group on this anniversary and highlighted its role in the cultural life of Benalmádena.
“It is part of the cultural history of Benalmádena and has managed to keep the love for cinema alive for 35 years,” Trujillo noted.
The councillor also emphasised the cineclub's ability to understand cinema as a tool for culture, reflection, and coexistence, and assured that the Culture Area will continue to work hand in hand with a group that has made the Casa de la Cultura a meeting place for several generations of enthusiasts.
All activities are coordinated with the Culture Area of the Benalmádena City Council. Screenings are regularly accessible to members, and interested members of the public can consult the programme at the Casa de la Cultura de Arroyo de la Miel.
