The Benalmádena Town Hall has presented its winter sports programme with 31 modalities, 136 groups and over 5,000 places. Classes will begin on September 15 and prices remain the same as the previous year.
The Town Hall of Benalmádena has unveiled the winter sports activities programme for the 2026/2027 season, which includes 31 modalities, 136 groups and more than 5,000 places for residents of all ages. The offer includes new activities such as newcom, a volleyball variant adapted for older adults; yoga for health and commercial dance.
The mayor, Juan Antonio Lara, and the Sports councillor, Alejandro Carretero, presented the programme at a press conference where they highlighted that classes at the municipal sports schools will start on September 15. Although some groups have already filled their places, it is still possible to register for those with availability or to join the waiting lists.
“We continue to expand and improve our sports offer so that more and more residents of Benalmádena, from the youngest to our elders, have the opportunity to practice sports in municipal facilities that we are also modernising and improving,” said Lara.
Activities will mainly take place at the Arroyo de la Miel Sports Centre, the Ramón Rico Sports Centre in Benalmádena Pueblo, the Retamar Municipal Field and the Francisco Alarcón 'Isco' Municipal Stadium. This offer is complemented by the facilities of the Ice Club Sports Palace, the Racket Club, the fitness centres in Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmádena Pueblo, and Benalgolf.
The programme involves the collaboration of 21 local sports clubs, which manage the various activities alongside the Sports Department. Councillor Carretero explained that the programme allows sports practice from the age of three, with specific activities for children, youth, adults and seniors.
Prices remain the same as the previous season: 10 euros per month for physical maintenance for seniors, 14 euros for adults and 17 euros for activities such as children's educational gymnastics, children's badminton, athletics initiation or pre-baby basketball.
The mayor has framed this offer within the municipality's commitment to renewing its sports facilities. Since May 2023, actions have been taken such as the comprehensive reform of the Francisco Alarcón 'Isco' Stadium, the renewal of pavements at the Ramón Rico Sports Centre, the installation of artificial grass at the CEIP Poeta Salvador Rueda, photovoltaic panels at the Arroyo de la Miel Sports Centre, and the new calisthenics area at Malapesquera beach.
The Sports Department is currently working on projects such as the double pavilion of the Arroyo de la Miel Sports Centre, new calisthenics areas, improvements to roofs, the renovation of the athletics track and the replacement of the grass at the Ramón Rico Sports Centre.
The season will be completed with the Municipal Sports Games, local leagues and events such as the Bicycle Festival, the Turkey Race, Benalfitón, the Sports Gala or Walking for a Challenge.
