The Punto Violeta in Ronda will be active during the Pedro Romero Fair and will distribute a thousand drug detection bracelets to prevent chemical submission. The tent, located in the Ángel Harillo fairgrounds, will operate from 21:00 to 03:00 from Tuesday to Saturday.
The Equality delegation of the Ronda City Council has presented the Punto Violeta initiative for the Pedro Romero Fair and Festivities, which this year includes a new feature: the distribution of a thousand drug detection bracelets for drinks. Councillor Cristina Durán explained that these sensors change colour if the drink has been tampered with using chemical substances, and each bracelet can be used up to five times.
The advisory point will be set up in the Ángel Harillo fairgrounds, near the entrance and close to the young people's booth area. It will operate from 21:00 to 03:00 from Tuesday to Saturday during the fair, with the participation of volunteers from the Rondafem association. In addition to the bracelets, cup lids will be offered with the same aim of preventing chemical submission.
Durán emphasised the necessity of these measures in light of the increase in sexual assaults under the influence of substances.
