The Jiu Jitsu Ronda Club is refurbishing two facilities at the El Burgo sports centre for free for the Town Hall, which had been inactive. The council aims to create a Municipal School of Martial Arts.
The Town Hall of Ronda has promoted the recovery of two spaces at the El Burgo sports centre that remained unused. This comes after the tender for private exploitation went unawarded, as reported by the municipal delegate for Sports, Bernardo Crespo.
The Jiu Jitsu Ronda Club will be the first to occupy these facilities, which it has refurbished at no cost to the municipal coffers. The project aims to advance towards the creation of a Municipal School of Martial Arts that can host disciplines such as jiu jitsu, judo, or karate.
Crespo presented the initiative alongside the club's representative, Miguel Gómez, and the president of Asidoser, Javier Ortilles. The delegate noted that this measure will provide children and adults the opportunity to practice specific sports disciplines in Ronda.
“The goal is for residents to be able to practice these disciplines in municipal facilities,” Crespo indicated.
The club will offer affordable prices and will collaborate monthly with Asidoser and the autism association of Ronda, AOPA. The project also includes free workshops aimed at women victims of gender violence and activities to prevent school bullying.
Ortilles expressed gratitude for the collaboration and stated that any support is important to continue developing their work and to promote the inclusion of children with Down syndrome.
With this initiative, the Town Hall and the Jiu Jitsu Ronda Club add a social aspect to the recovery of a municipal sports space, expanding opportunities for participation and access to sports in the city.
