The subsidy call from the Diputación de Málaga marks a decade with 775 jobs for university and vocational training graduates. The new edition allocates €1.7 million for around a hundred contracts.
The Primera Oportunidad programme from the Diputación de Málaga has facilitated the hiring of 775 young people since its launch ten years ago. This is reported by Diario Sur, which details that the new call has a budget of €1,700,000 for around a hundred contracts.
Of the beneficiaries, 424 are women and 351 are men; 575 come from university studies and 200 from vocational training. The programme was created to stop the brain drain and consists of subsidies for companies, freelancers, and professionals in the province to hire graduates after their internships.

The amount of aid covers up to 85% of salary and social security costs in municipalities with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants, and 70% in larger ones. The programme has the collaboration of UNED, UMA, and the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Málaga (FEM).
“It is a very important aid for young people like us, because a large part of the companies ask for experience… But no one hires you so you can gain that experience,” declares Lourdes Lucas Garrido, hired at the N&B Lawyers office in Fuengirola.
The president of the Diputación, Francis Salado, highlighted during the presentation that this year the third sector has been included so that it can also apply for jobs. Salado pointed out that the insertion rate helps retain talent in the province and create quality jobs that are sustainable over time.
The founding partner of N&B Lawyers, Miguel Bascones, noted that the subsidy makes hiring an investment for both the young person and the company. After hiring Lourdes Lucas, the office has started to hire another girl from vocational training.
The event also featured the executive vice president and general secretary of the CEM, Natalia Sánchez; the vice-rector of Transfer, Entrepreneurship and Business at UMA, Juan Carlos Rubio, and the director of the associated UNED centre in Málaga, Luis Grau.
