The Virgen de la Victoria University Clinical Hospital, located in Málaga, has scheduled a day to raise awareness about suicide prevention. This event will take place on September 10, coinciding with World Suicide Prevention Day.
Under the slogan “Changing the Narrative”, the day aims to highlight the importance of support and early detection of suicidal behaviours, addressing the topic from various clinical and social perspectives.
Event Programme
The event, organised by the clinical management unit of Mental Health at the hospital, will begin with an institutional inauguration. Subsequently, David Seguí Durán, clinical psychologist from the Community Mental Health Unit of Benalmádena, will present the talk titled “Adolescent Crisis in a Crisis Society. Dying Before Suicide”.
Psychiatrists Rosario Duran García and Blanca Molina Peláez, from the USMC Valle del Guadalhorce, will present the topic “Between Ideal and Reality: Suicide and Motherhood”. Meanwhile, Remedios Sánchez Navarro, social worker from the USMC Puerta Blanca, will discuss “Importance of Social Determinants in Suicide Prevention”.
Finally, Dolores Gómez García, a mental health specialist nurse from the USMC Benalmádena, will share her experience on “Implementation of the Suicide Prevention Guide in Hospitalisation Units”, within the framework of the BPSO Nursing Programme.

With this event, the Virgen de la Victoria University Clinical Hospital reaffirms its commitment to the Andalusian Mental Health Strategy, promoting interdisciplinary coordination among care units. Additionally, it aims to foster an active listening space that benefits both patients and their families.
The hospital has also implemented the “ContSui” programme, in the context of the Strategic Plan for Mental Health and Addictions of Andalusia. This protocol ensures proactive and rapid care for vulnerable populations, establishing an early detection circuit in emergencies.
Through this programme, continuity of care is guaranteed for over 1,200,000 inhabitants, coordinating care with Primary Care professionals to ensure solid and secure follow-up.
