The operation mobilised around 150 agents and allowed for the seizure of numerous firearms, including rifles and assault rifles, as well as significant amounts of cash.
The bulk of the operation was concentrated in Puente Genil (Córdoba), where the Civil Guard deployed a large operation early on Saturday and carried out several searches, particularly in the neighbourhood of Juan Rejano. The actions involved specialised units and agents dispatched from various Andalusian commands, as well as aerial resources and trained dogs to locate weapons, drugs, and money.
Investigators suspect that part of the arsenal was destined for organisations linked to drug trafficking. The investigation, which remains under judicial secrecy, is ongoing, so further arrests cannot be ruled out. For now, it has not been disclosed at which specific locations in the province of Málaga the actions took place, nor how many of the eight arrested, if any, were detained in the province.

The operation adds to the concerns of police units combating organised crime regarding the ease with which gangs based in the Costa del Sol manage to access high-powered weaponry. One of the most significant blows occurred this summer: the National Police seized in July in Málaga an arsenal consisting of 36 assault rifles, eleven handguns, eleven grenades, seven silencers, bulletproof vests, and over 5,000 cartridges. The operation led to the arrest of several individuals investigated for drug and arms trafficking.
Investigators suspect that that arsenal was intended to supply organisations linked to drug trafficking in southern Spain. The Security Forces have thwarted nearly a dozen crimes and settling scores in recent months, although concerns remain over the violence recorded during the summer and the increasing access of these groups to high-capacity weapons.
