The Spanish Association Against Cancer presents its campaign 'We Take It to Heart' with 75 information tables in over 25 municipalities and a catwalk on October 7 at the esplanade of the Pompidou Museum.

The Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) in Málaga has launched a provincial campaign against breast cancer that includes over 150 activities spread across more than 25 municipalities in Málaga, as reported by Diario Sur. The presentation, held in the Málaga Palacio hall, brought together patients, professionals, and volunteers in an event that filled the venue.

The president of the AECC in Málaga, Juan Carlos Martín, referred to the severity of some situations that reach the association: "We have just learned of a case of a woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer by mail." The provincial head framed the entity's work in listening to and supporting patients, under the slogan 'We Take It to Heart'.

The coordinator for patient and user care at the AECC in Málaga, Eva Fernández, explained that the campaign's goal goes beyond providing information: "Our challenge is not just to listen, but to interpret and connect with cancer patients." Fernández emphasized the need to understand the fears, aftereffects, and family environment of those receiving a diagnosis.

The psycho-oncologist of the association, Jaime Mena, described some of the fears that patients express during consultations. "You tell the doctor about a side effect and they say not to worry, that it's normal. It's good to know, but we want to go further," he pointed out. In his speech, he advocated for addressing not only treatment but also the quality of life of those affected.

Over the past year, the AECC has assisted 1,125 breast cancer patients in its comprehensive care sessions, which include nutrition, physiotherapy, legal advice, and speech therapy, among other services. All these resources are free for both patients and their families and can be requested via the phone 900 100 036, available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.

The programming will intensify during October with the installation of 75 information tables in over 25 municipalities and the pink lighting of 350 businesses, institutions, and brotherhoods. The central event will be on October 7 at the esplanade of the Pompidou Museum with the 'Catwalk Against Breast Cancer', featuring ten women and one man showcasing designs by Sonia Peña through Málaga de Moda. The male presence aims to highlight that 1% of diagnoses affect men.

The informative days 'Let's Talk About Cancer' will tour various points in the province, and the calendar of solidarity marches will kick off with the Pink Tide of Marbella on October 4, continuing in Antequera, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Benalmádena, Coín, Nerja, and Torrox. On October 19, World Day Against the Disease, Marqués de Larios street will host an interactive street action alongside the La Caixa Foundation, which will be joined by the mobilization of the Idiliq Foundation on the Costa del Sol.

The program will conclude on October 24 with a charity gala at Higuerón Resort, which will include a cocktail lunch by Michelin-starred chef Diego Gallegos. The initiative has the collaboration of local businesses and shops that will sell official products to fund patient care. The entire program can be consulted on the website of the Spanish Association Against Cancer.
