In Málaga, during the first half of 2026, the subsidised dining program in the Active Participation Centres of the Junta de Andalucía served a total of 185,400 meals at reduced prices. This service has benefited 4,403 holders of the Andalucía Junta 65 Card in its Gold mode, with an investment of €520,882.55.
Service usage data
Of the users who accessed the dining service, 91.71% are women (4,038) and 8.29% are men (365). This trend reflects the program's relevance in promoting healthy eating, as well as encouraging active ageing and social interaction among the elderly.
The dining service is considered one of the most established benefits within the Active Participation Centres, offering balanced menus daily that include a starter, main course, dessert, and drink. In addition to ensuring adequate nutrition, these spaces help combat loneliness and promote social participation among seniors.
Economic and social benefits
Holders of the Andalucía Junta 65 Card in Gold mode enjoy a 50% discount on the menu price, making access to this service economically advantageous. This initiative is part of the actions by the Junta de Andalucía to promote the well-being and autonomy of elderly people in their environment.
The maximum price of the menu in the Active Participation Centres is updated annually, in accordance with the Consumer Price Index (CPI), thus ensuring the sustainability of the service while maintaining accessible conditions for users.
The Active Participation Centres also function as meeting spaces that encourage social participation, lifelong learning, and the adoption of healthy habits in old age. Alongside the dining service, they offer a wide range of cultural, educational, sports, and leisure activities, contributing to improving quality of life and preventing social isolation.
The data from the first half of 2026 highlight the consolidation of this program as one of the most impactful social resources for elderly people in Andalucía, given the high volume of meals served and the number of beneficiaries who regularly use the service.
