The city of Málaga will experience a day of intense heat this Thursday, July 9, with temperatures reaching 34 degrees and no rain in sight. Winds will blow with gusts of up to 37 km/h.

Málaga is preparing for a full summer day on Thursday, July 9, with a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius and a nighttime minimum of 25 degrees. The weather forecast indicates a completely clear day, with no clouds or chance of precipitation, which will encourage many locals to enjoy the beaches and terraces.

The wind will be a key feature throughout the day, with gusts reaching 37 km/h during the day, slightly decreasing to 33 km/h at night. This wind, known locally as 'terral' when it blows dry, will help to soften the thermal sensation during the peak hours.

A Very High UV Level

The State Meteorological Agency has warned that the ultraviolet radiation index will reach a level of 11, considered extreme. Experts recommend avoiding sun exposure between 12:00 and 16:00 hours, and using high sun protection, hats, and sunglasses if going outdoors.

For residents of Málaga city and municipalities such as Torremolinos, Benalmádena, or Marbella, the day will be ideal for outdoor activities, always with caution against the heat. The beaches of the Costa del Sol are expecting a high turnout, with water temperatures around 22 degrees.

A Mediterranean Climate with Character

Málaga enjoys an average annual temperature of 18.5 degrees, with mild winters where frosts are virtually non-existent and hot summers that can soar when the 'terral' blows, a dry wind that sometimes raises the mercury to 44 degrees. Rainfall is concentrated in just 42 days a year, mainly between November and January.

According to historical data, the best time to visit the city is from early May to late July, and again from early September to mid-October, when temperatures range between 18 and 27 degrees. This Thursday, with its 34 degrees, sits at the warm end of that range, but still far from the peaks of August.

For residents, the practical advice is to stay well hydrated and seek shade during peak hours. The night, at 25 degrees, will be warm but bearable, perfect for a stroll through the centre or an al fresco dinner in Soho or La Malagueta.
