Hotels in the capital expect an 88.4% occupancy rate between 14 and 23 August, five points lower than in 2025. The last weekend rises to 95%.
The Málaga Fair arrives this year with fewer hotel bookings than in the last two editions. According to data from the hotel association Aehcos, the expected occupancy between 14 and 23 August stands at 88.4%, compared to the 93.6% recorded during the festivities in 2025.
The decline will be noticeable from the first weekend. Between Friday 14 and Sunday 16, the estimated occupancy reaches 92.5%, below the 95.6% of 2024 and also below last year's figure. For the entire Fair, forecasts place Málaga at levels similar to those of 2023, when hotels achieved an average occupancy of 89.9%.
However, the second half of the festivities points to a recovery in demand. Hotels expect to reach 95% occupancy during the last weekend, largely driven by the bullfighting events in La Malagueta.
As a second positive point, spending per guest will be higher than in the previous Fair: Aehcos estimates a gross impact of 128.37 euros, compared to 121.08 euros in 2025. International visitors will represent approximately six out of ten guests during the festivities.
The final figure may still change in the coming days, as last-minute bookings will play a significant role with the Fair taking place in the middle of August. The hotel association points to this pending demand as the main factor that could elevate the occupancy ultimately recorded in the capital.
For travellers who have not yet booked, this situation could translate into greater room availability, especially in the first week of the Fair. Hotels in the city centre and the La Malagueta area will be the most sought after during the last weekend, when peak occupancy is expected.
