The Real de Cortijo de Torres is preparing for the Málaga Fair 2026 with 2.3 million low-energy LED lights, extending for the first time to the main streets of the venue.
The Real de Cortijo de Torres will illuminate its 2.3 million LED lights on the night of Saturday, August 15, a figure that this year incorporates for the first time the sustainable technology 'Ecogreenlux' on the main avenues of the venue: Avenida de Las Malagueñas and the streets José Blázquez 'El Maño' and Peñista Rafael Fuentes. The main entrance, which replicates the historic 'Kiosko Embarcadero de la Reina' from 1862, also debuts curtains with this system patented by Ximenez Group, which reduces light pollution by 93% and saves up to 60% energy.
The councillors for Operational Services, Beaches and Festivals, Teresa Porras, and for Youth, Mercedes Martín, presented the news this morning. The venue will feature 117 booths (in addition to municipal ones) spread across more than 200 modules, and the lighting includes 222 arches, 43 lamp post motifs, 242 grouped motifs, 8,880 garlands, and three redesigned secondary porticos with the new efficient system.
For weeks, hundreds of municipal workers and contractors have been working alongside concessionaires and fairground operators to prepare the infrastructures and the 20,000 square meters of awnings that will provide shade to the streets of the Real. On the night of August 15, the opening speech will be given by Juan Francisco Funes, coach of Málaga CF, on the stage located in front of the main entrance starting at 21:30, just before the official lighting ceremony.
The musical program includes around 200 free performances at the Municipal Auditorium, the Municipal Flamenco and Copla Booth, and the children's booth. Figures such as Antonio Carmona, Diana Navarro, Zenet, Medina Azahara, David de María, Nancys Rubias, and Paloma San Basilio headline the Auditorium lineup, alongside local artists like Encarni Navarro, Tabletom, and Hoffman. The Flamenco and Copla Booth will offer daily shows featuring singers like José de Chaparro, Chato de Málaga, Amparo Heredia, or Chelo Soto, and will host the final of the Ciudad de Málaga contest.
The Verdiales will be present with two daily groups from the Montes, Almogía, and Comares styles, both in their booth at Cortijo de Torres (from 22:00 to 03:00) and on Calle Larios (from 13:00 to 17:00). The children's booth commemorates the 30th anniversary of the Magical Fair with companies like Los Títeres de Miguel Pino, Acuario Teatro, or La Carpa Teatro, starting at 21:30.
In the equestrian section, horse access to the venue will be done via a QR code obtainable from the City Council's electronic headquarters. The Equestrian Exhibition Centre (Calle Antonio Rodríguez Sánchez, 39) will host daily shows at 16:00 and 22:00, such as 'Málaga Dreams on Horseback', 'Between Jábegas and Horses', or 'The Equestrian Rhythm of Málaga', in addition to the XXIII Memorial 'Juan Alda' Equestrian Clothing and Tack Contest on Tuesday 18 at 16:00. The Carriage and Horses Walk will take place every day from 12:00 to 20:00.
The Youth Esplanade will offer daily DJ sessions between 22:00 and 03:00, kicking off on Saturday 15 with 'Los 40 Urban Session Málaga' featuring Ramsés López, David Álvarez, and Sanchez Jr. On the other days, Manuel Pallarés will be the resident DJ, with Jesús Fernández DJ on Tuesday 18 and DJ Javi on Wednesday 19.
