Activities to commemorate 'Litoral'

The Department of Culture, Historical Heritage and Sport of Andalusia celebrates in Málaga the hundred years of the magazine 'Litoral', a key publication of the Generation of '27. The events will take place on October 20 and 21 at the Cultural Centre of the Generation of '27, in collaboration with the Diputación de Málaga.

Details of the events

The events will begin on October 20 at 18:30 with a lecture by the professor from the University of Málaga, Luis Melero Mascañeras, who will speak about the intrahistory of the magazine. This talk will be followed by an intervention from the writer and artistic curator, Alfredo Taján, who will address the theme 'A gallery for avant-garde art'.

On October 21, also at 18:30, the writer and journalist Guillermo Busutil will give the lecture 'Málaga, the city of '27'. Afterwards, attendees will be able to participate in a literary walk through the Málaga of the magazine 'Litoral', guided by the poet and director of the Centre of the Generation of '27, José Antonio Mesa Toré.

Attendance at these events is free, but a reservation must be made in advance via email: centenariolitoral2026@gmail.com. The activities are coordinated by Eva Díaz Pérez, curator of the cultural activities for the centenary of the Generation of '27.

Additionally, a facsimile edition of the first nine issues of 'Litoral', prepared by the Hispanist James Valender, will be presented. This initiative underscores the magazine's relevance as a platform for prominent authors of the time, including Rafael Alberti, Federico García Lorca, and Luis Cernuda.
