Avanza Andalucía will incorporate 42 hybrid buses into the metropolitan service of Málaga this year, the largest fleet renewal in recent times. The first vehicles are already in circulation and the rest will be added progressively.

The public transport of the metropolitan area of Málaga is debuting new buses. Avanza Andalucía plans to put a total of 42 state-of-the-art hybrid vehicles into service throughout 2026, the largest fleet renewal the company has faced in recent years, according to Diario Sur.

The new units have already begun to operate and will be gradually incorporated until the end of the year. With this batch, the company renews approximately a quarter of its fleet in the province.

The buses will be assigned to various lines in the metropolitan area, including those connecting with Alhaurín el Grande, Benalmádena, Torremolinos, Marbella, Coín, and Cártama. The allocation of each vehicle will depend on operational needs and the demand for each route.

The new vehicles are hybrid and their use will result in reduced fuel consumption and pollutant emissions. Additionally, they feature advanced driving assistance systems, USB ports, next-generation climate control, improved accessibility, and greater comfort and safety for passengers.

“This investment is part of a modernisation plan initiated in 2024, which has intensified particularly during 2026. 2026 will be the year with the largest fleet renewal carried out by Avanza Andalucía to date,” highlights Rafael Durbán, director of Avanza Andalucía.

The company's Operations Manager, José María Sanabría, has noted that the company is adapting its fleet to the growing demand for public transport in the metropolitan area of Málaga, with more modern and sustainable vehicles.
