Marbella hosts a day of the Provincial 3x3 Basketball Circuit this Saturday with around 30 teams and a hundred players. The renovated courts at the Paco Cantos Sports Centre will be the venue.
The Paco Cantos Sports Centre in Marbella will host a new day of the Provincial 3x3 Basketball Circuit this Saturday, September 12, marking its 22nd edition. The event, which will kick off at 10:00 AM, will feature the participation of around 30 teams and nearly a hundred players from various categories, according to the City Council. As reported by Diario Sur, the Sports Councillor, Lisandro Vieytes, explained that registrations are still open online and can also be completed in person on the day of the event.
Vieytes highlighted that Marbella will experience a weekend “practically dedicated to sport,” with six significant events. Among them is the passage of the Vuelta Ciclista a España through San Pedro Alcántara on Friday at noon, the basketball match between Real Madrid and La Laguna Tenerife at the Sergio Scariolo Pavilion, the Junior Paddle Circuit, and the final of the golf circuit at Marbella Golf Resort.
The councillor praised the consolidation of a circuit “that has been developing for the last 22 years and is very present in our city and our local clubs.” The day includes categories from pre-minibasket and minibasket to senior, both male and female and mixed. “The goal is to practice outdoor sports in Marbella, where we have the best conditions to do so and now we also have completely renovated courts,” he noted.
The central courts of Paco Cantos have undergone a comprehensive renovation of the flooring and painting, with improvements in accessibility and safety. The City Council has carried out more than 21 actions on the sports facilities.
For his part, Ibón Gámez, sports director and coach of CD Recoletas Salud Marbella Basket, emphasized the collaboration between institutions to make this edition possible. “It is a 3x3 organised by the Provincial Council together with the Andalusian Basketball Federation and the City Council of Marbella, and we, as a club, are always willing to have our boys participate and to help in any way we can,” he stated. The club has players from baby to under-22, and athletes can form their own teams of four members.
Registrations can be made through the online platform of the Sports Delegation or in person at the Paco Cantos Sports Centre on Saturday morning, before the competition begins.
