The Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality has reported that Andalusia has made significant progress in its social services and in the transformation of the dependency system. This is reflected in the DEC 2025 index, published by the Association of Directors and Managers of Social Services, which ranks Andalusia sixth nationally.
In the plenary session last Thursday, Councillor Loles López highlighted that, compared to the tenth place previously obtained, this progress denotes a significant improvement in the resources and services offered, as well as in the care for individuals.
Advances in proximity services
López also pointed out that the report reveals progress in various areas, such as the publication of the Catalogue of Benefits of the Public System of Social Services of Andalusia, which has contributed to achieving a classification of excellence.
One of the most notable aspects is the increase in proximity social services. According to the DEC 2025 index, 21.3% of people over 75 in Andalusia receive home help, in contrast to the national average of 12%. Furthermore, the intensity of the service reaches an average of 33 hours per month, higher than the 23.8 hours of the rest of the country. In teleassistance, 34.5% of those over 75 in Andalusia access this service, compared to the national average of 24%.
“The information reveals that in Andalusia, older people are enabled to live more autonomously in their homes. Social services are increasingly focused on providing home care, proactively working to support individuals without them needing to leave their homes,” commented the councillor.
Commitment to efficient management
Loles López was emphatic that managing properly does not mean cutting costs, but rather achieving better results by making the most of available resources. She stated that the data from the DEC Index reflects the good management of the government of Juanma Moreno.
The councillor concluded that, although there are challenges ahead, the goal is to continue advancing in the improvement of social services in the community, in collaboration with the sector.
