The Marbella City Council will increase funding for third sector groups by 15% in 2027. Between 2023 and 2026, it has allocated over €9.7 million to social services and 22 agreements with associations.
The Marbella City Council has announced that grants for third sector groups and entities will grow by 15% in the 2027 budget. According to Diario Sur, this measure adds to the investment efforts of the current mandate: between 2023 and 2026, the council has allocated over €9.7 million to the area of social services.
This funding has materialised in the signing of 22 agreements for direct aid with non-profit associations in the municipality, which support assistance programmes. Additionally, support has been provided to another 11 social entities through competitive bidding processes.
Care for the elderly is a significant part of the municipal strategy. Active participation centres already have 11,549 members, a 36.4% increase compared to 2023, and the accumulated investment for this group reaches €3 million. The municipal network includes 11 centres distributed throughout the population centres.
The governing team is also working on new facilities in Nueva Andalucía, with an investment of €2.48 million already tendered for a centre that will also house offices for the Department of Social Rights, and in Las Albarizas, aiming to decentralise services. In 2026, the budget for activities in senior centres increased from €176,882 to €370,789, an increase of over 110%.
The municipal social policy also includes programmes for young people, offering a mix of alternative leisure, culture, training, and sport distributed across all districts of the municipality.
