Málaga Local Police has immobilised 91 packages of sushi, weighing around 27 kilos, that were being transported on a motorcycle without proper refrigeration. The goods were headed to a booth at the Real de Cortijo de Torres fair.

A plainclothes patrol from Málaga Local Police intercepted a motorcycle on Monday, 17 August at 17:15 on José Blázquez El Maño street, within the Cortijo de Torres fairgrounds. In the rear compartment of the vehicle, officers found 91 packages of sushi, with a total weight of 27 kilograms, that were destined for a stand at the Málaga Fair.

The driver, who owns a catering establishment, explained that he prepared the products and distributed them to delivery points. However, the motorcycle's compartment did not have a specific refrigeration system nor was it equipped for transporting food; it only contained some portable cooler ice packs.

The intervention was carried out in collaboration with the Health and Consumer Inspection Service of the Málaga City Council, which deemed the sanitary conditions inadequate. The officers filed a report and proceeded to immobilise the goods.

The sushi was transferred to the cold storage of the booth it was destined for, where it was sealed to prevent consumption while further actions were completed. Subsequently, municipal services removed and voluntarily disposed of all the packaging.

This action is part of the controls that Local Police and health services conduct during the Málaga Fair, held at the Real de Cortijo de Torres. The detection of irregular transport highlights the importance of maintaining the cold chain in the distribution of perishable foods, especially at an event with high public attendance.

The establishment's owner received information about the sanitary obligations applicable to the transport of food, although the report has already been processed and the case is now in the hands of municipal services to conclude the procedure.
