The Provincial Council of Málaga will allocate €1.3 million to repair 1.7 kilometres of the Charca path, which connects the urban area and the industrial estate with the A-355 towards Marbella. The project is already drafted, and the Town Hall can contract the works.

The Charca path, which links the urban area of Coín with its industrial zones and the accesses to Alozaina, Casapalma, and the A-355, will be renewed with an investment of €1.3 million from the Provincial Council of Málaga. The intervention will cover 1.7 kilometres and will serve to correct the damage to the surface and the stability issues of the ground, as reported by Diario Sur.

The project has already been drafted by the provincial institution, allowing the Town Hall of Coín to proceed with contracting the works. This was explained by the president of the Provincial Council, Francisco Salado. The expected execution period is about eight months from the start of the works.

“This is much more than a rural path; it is a fundamental connection between the agricultural and livestock farms of Coín with the urban centre, business area, and neighbouring towns,” highlighted the mayor, Francisco Santos.

The mayor recalled that the poor condition of the surface has forced provisional conditioning measures to be carried out in recent years, awaiting a project that, as he pointed out, will mean “a definitive and lasting repair.”

The works include the renewal of the pavement, improvement of water drainage, horizontal signage along the entire route, and the installation of safety barriers. Additionally, the platform supporting the path will be reconstructed at the damaged points, and stone walls will be built with large blocks in areas where the embankment has lost stability.

The route is not only used for rural purposes. It connects with the industrial estate Nuestra Señora de Lourdes, other industries, and the agricultural and livestock farms of the locality, as well as facilitating communications with the urban centre and neighbouring municipalities. Santos emphasized the need for provincial support to undertake such investments in a municipality with over 350 kilometres of rural paths.

This action is part of five new projects in the Vía-ble plan, which total €5.2 million and will also reach Alhaurín el Grande, Igualeja, Teba, and Vélez-Málaga. The programme aims to improve municipal paths that link towns, centres, and fast roads, as well as facilitate travel between the coast and the interior.
