The Feria de Mayo 2026 in Alhaurín el Grande will run from May 27 to 31, featuring extended day fair, youth caseta, and a lineup including Gonzalo Hermida.

The municipality of Alhaurín el Grande is gearing up for its most anticipated event of the year: the Feria de Mayo 2026. Scheduled from May 27 to 31, the five-day celebration promises a richer program, including for the first time a Sunday extension of the day fair and the youth caseta, aiming to attract both locals and visitors from across Málaga province.

The town's Department of Festivities has curated a blend of tradition, music, and community engagement across multiple venues. The day fair, traditionally held from Thursday to Saturday, will now run through Sunday, taking advantage of the local holiday on Monday June 1. This change is expected to boost attendance and prolong the festive atmosphere throughout the weekend. The youth caseta in the fairgrounds will also open on Sunday, joining the Caseta de la Peña Caballista and other association-run bars in the town center during Friday and Saturday.

The musical lineup features a mix of regional and local artists, including Gonzalo Hermida, Somos del Sur, Alejados, Mesalla, and El Sebas de la Calle. Performances will be spread across various casetas, ensuring diverse options for all age groups. "We have designed a program that appeals to everyone, from young people to families and seniors," said a council spokesperson.

Accessibility and safety remain priorities. The fairground will host a Punto Violeta (a point for gender violence awareness), a Punto de Bienestar Animal (animal welfare point), and a noise-free period at the start of each day to accommodate individuals with sensory sensitivities. Bus services will be reinforced, and a children's play area will be available in the town center fair. Athletic activities and parallel events complete the offering.

For context, the Feria de Mayo has historically been a key driver of tourism and local pride in Alhaurín el Grande, a town known for its white-washed houses and agricultural roots. In 2025, the event attracted over 50,000 visitors, according to municipal estimates. This year's growth reflects a broader trend in the Valle del Guadalhorce region, where towns like Coín and Alhaurín de la Torre have similarly expanded their spring festivals to boost post-pandemic recovery. The extended schedule aims to compete with larger fairs in the Costa del Sol, such as those in Mijas and Fuengirola.

The town council encourages residents and visitors alike to join the festivities. "This is a celebration of our community, our traditions, and our hospitality," the spokesperson added. "We look forward to welcoming everyone to enjoy five days of music, camaraderie, and fun." Practical details: the fair officially opens on Wednesday May 27 at 8:00 PM with a fireworks display at the fairgrounds. Free shuttle buses will run from the town center to the recinto ferial every 30 minutes during peak hours.
