The Plenary of the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall has unanimously approved an institutional motion requesting the Junta de Andalucía to prioritise the extension of the Málaga Metro towards the Eastern Coast, up to El Palo, and to consider Rincón de la Victoria as the final destination of the infrastructure.
The initiative originated from the Socialist Group and was adopted as an institutional motion by all political groups in the Corporation. The text requests that the expansion of the network takes into account the mobility needs of the eastern area of the Málaga metropolitan area.
The mayor, Francisco Salado, defended in the Plenary that the most useful decision for the province and the metropolitan area is for the Metro to reach El Palo and, from there, to Rincón de la Victoria. The mayor hopes that the demand study conducted will confirm the need to undertake the extension.

Salado placed the claim in the historical context and stated that all administrations have an outstanding debt with Rincón de la Victoria regarding infrastructure. He explained that the western area of Málaga has a more developed communication network, while the eastern coast faces mobility issues linked to population growth and the increase in daily commutes.
The mayor argues that the arrival of the Metro would benefit the residents of the municipality and serve as infrastructure for the entire Axarquía and the metropolitan area. The motion also seeks to broaden support for the claim and bring in other administrations and municipalities.
The Town Hall believes that the priority should be placed on the Eastern Coastal corridor, with El Palo and Rincón de la Victoria as destinations for the future extension. Salado thanked all groups for their consensus around a claim he described as crucial for the mobility of the municipality and the metropolitan area.
