The Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall is organising a free basic life support and defibrillator workshop on November 10 from 17:00 to 19:00 in the Plenary Hall. Places are limited and registration is done via email.

The Town Hall of Rincón de la Victoria, through the Department of Health and Consumer Affairs, has opened registration for a new free basic life support and defibrillator use workshop. The activity will take place on November 10 in the Plenary Hall of the Town Hall, from 17:00 to 19:00 hours, and is supported by the Association of Former Patients of the Intensive Care Unit of the University Clinical Hospital (EXPAUMI).

The Councillor for Health and Consumer Affairs, Lola Ramos, explained that this annual event aims to ensure that the population knows how to react in a health emergency, especially in the case of a cardiac arrest.

“Rincón de la Victoria already has more than twenty defibrillators distributed throughout the municipality, so it is equally important for citizens to know how to act and how to use these devices correctly when necessary.”

The Mayor, Francisco Salado, pointed out that this knowledge can be crucial in an emergency and that a trained population strengthens the response in the first few minutes, before emergency services arrive.

The programme includes how to identify loss of consciousness, absence of breathing, and upper airway obstruction, as well as guidelines for action in the event of cardiac arrest. Attendees will practice cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques and learn how to operate and apply the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), with a practical format to familiarise themselves with the actions that should be taken in such an emergency.

Interested individuals must send their details to the email provided by the Town Hall. The workshop is free and places are limited, so registration will close once the capacity of the Plenary Hall is reached.
