The Youth Department of Rincón de la Victoria opens registration for programming and video game workshops with Roblox Studio and Unity, starting on October 1 at the Municipal Youth Centre of Torre de Benagalbón.
The Youth Department of the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall has opened the registration period for a new edition of programming and video game creation workshops using Roblox Studio and Unity, which will be held during the upcoming school year at the Municipal Youth Centre starting from October 1.
The training is aimed at children and young people in the municipality and combines programming, animation, graphic design, and sound. This year, a new feature is the artificial intelligence applied to video game creation, as explained by the Youth Councillor, Nacho Cuadra.
“This year we are introducing several new features to the program, including the introduction of Artificial Intelligence applied to video game creation, so that students can learn how these new tools can assist them in processes such as idea generation, character and environment creation.”
The Roblox Studio workshop is aimed at children aged 6 to 12 years. Classes will be held on Thursdays from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, with a monthly fee of €39.90. The Unity workshop, for young people aged 10 to 17 years, will take place on Thursdays from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM for €49.90 per month.
On Fridays, both workshops will be offered in an advanced mode for those who wish to delve deeper and develop more complex projects. Holders of the Young Card, the European Young Card, and large families will receive a 20% discount on the monthly fee. The workshops include materials and have limited places.
The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, has stated that the Youth Area aims to provide educational alternatives tailored to the interests of young people and to promote digital skills from an early age. He also praised the annual update of the content of these courses.
The classes are taught by industry professionals, and during the course, a special Virtual Reality session will be held where participants will work in groups. In Roblox Studio, the Luau language is used, while in Unity, C# is employed, the engine used in titles like Pokémon GO.
Registrations are done online through the link provided by the Town Hall. The sessions will take place at the Municipal Youth Centre, located in the basement of the Rubén Ruzafa Municipal Covered Pavilion, in Torre de Benagalbón.
