The municipality will be part of the cycling route for the first edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Málaga, which will gather over 3,000 triathletes from a hundred nationalities on Sunday, October 18. The event will require the old N-340 road to be closed to traffic between 09:00 and 15:00 hours.

More than 3,000 triathletes from a hundred nationalities will participate on Sunday, October 18, in the first edition of the IRONMAN 70.3 Málaga, a middle-distance event whose cycling route will cross Rincón de la Victoria along the old N-340 road. The competition, organised by IRONMAN SPAIN SLU in collaboration with the Sports Area of the Rincón de la Victoria Town Hall, will include the presence of around 60 professional athletes and about 70% of foreign participants.

The Councillor for Sports, Antonio José Martín, explained the route the athletes will take: "The triathletes will travel along the old N-340 road, passing through different points in the municipality towards Axarquía, before continuing on the planned route set by the organisers."

The Mayor, Francisco Salado, has valued the inclusion of the municipality in the event: "Being part of the route of an international event of the size of IRONMAN 70.3 Málaga is a fantastic opportunity for Rincón de la Victoria, both from a sporting and a tourist perspective, as well as for promoting the municipality." Salado added that "during the event, thousands of athletes and their companions will be able to experience our coastline and our municipality, while our residents will have the chance to enjoy a top-level competition."

The event will take place over the usual distances for this category: 1.9 kilometres of swimming, 90 kilometres of cycling, and 21.1 kilometres of running. It will be counted towards the National Ranking of Medium and Long Distance Triathlon of the Spanish Triathlon Federation.

The cycling route will affect the avenues of Málaga, the Mediterranean, the Tower, and Axarquía, which will remain closed to traffic approximately between 09:00 and 15:00 hours. The Local Police recommend planning movements in advance and avoiding these roads during the competition. Parking will also be prohibited along the entire route, and some pedestrian crossings will be temporarily cancelled, with signage and supervision.

The Town Hall has organised a security device with Local Police, Civil Protection, and more than 150 volunteers. To facilitate mobility, alternative parking areas will be enabled in the three hubs. In La Cala del Moral, the right lane of Sierra de Ronda street, the right lane of Jerez street, and the parking area of Sierra de Ronda can be used. In Rincón de la Victoria, the football field parking, the parking areas of Las Minas and Clara Campoamor streets, the parking of El Castillón, and the areas and the flat land of Huerta Julián will be available. In Torre de Benagalbón, parking will be enabled on Lebeche street, the area next to IES Margarita Salas, and on Aliseos street.

The taxi stops in the three hubs will be temporarily moved from the main avenue during the traffic impact period. The Town Hall requests the cooperation of residents, merchants, and visitors to ensure the safety of the athletes and the public. Those needing specific information about the closures can consult it in advance with the Local Police, especially if they need to travel between La Cala del Moral, Rincón de la Victoria, and Torre de Benagalbón on the morning of Sunday.
