Rincón de la Victoria beach will host the tenth edition of Desafío de Guerreros on October 25, with 1,500 participants, new obstacles like the Tanque Guerrero, and categories for couples, teams, and companies.
The beach of Rincón de la Victoria will host the next 25th of October the tenth edition of Desafío de Guerreros, one of the most anticipated obstacle races on the municipality's sports calendar. The organisers expect to gather around 1,500 runners for an event that commemorates its tenth anniversary with new features in the course and participation categories.
The Sports Councillor, Antonio José Martín, has announced that the event returns "with new challenges, more mud and water, different participation categories, and numerous surprises" to celebrate its history. According to Martín, participants will have to demonstrate "strength, endurance, agility, and the ability to overcome" in a course where "competition will coexist with camaraderie and fun."
The mayor of Rincón de la Victoria, Francisco Salado, has emphasised the value of an event that "has become a consolidated sporting event, attracting participants from various parts of the country, and serves as a magnificent showcase for our municipality." Salado insisted that Rincón de la Victoria offers "exceptional conditions" for outdoor sports and pointed out that initiatives like this "generate activity, attract participants and companions, and help position our municipality as a destination linked to sport, leisure, and a healthy lifestyle."
The major novelty of this edition will be the Tanque Guerrero, an obstacle that will require runners to overcome a steep ascent to the top of the structure and then descend down a ramp that ends in a pit. Other challenges will include mud, water, and elements designed to push participants' physical abilities to the limit.
In honour of the anniversary, the organisers have prepared prizes for the best costume, a warrior party, and other activities. Registration options have also been expanded with categories for couples, teams, and companies, in addition to the individual category.
The competition will feature two courses, of 6 and 10 kilometres, with a total of 25 obstacles. Those seeking the highest competitive level can register for the Elite wave, where the top three will receive trophies. Additionally, the top 25 finishers in the Age Group categories and the top five in the Pro category will earn spots for the OCR World Championship.
Participation is open to individuals aged 15 years and older, with no maximum age limit. Registrations, starting from 51 euros, can be completed on the official Desafío de Guerreros website. The first start is scheduled for 9:00 AM at Rincón de la Victoria beach, with staggered waves every 20 minutes.
The operations director, Ximena Fernández, explained that the tenth edition has been designed as "a true celebration." "We wanted the ten years to be felt, and for those participating this year to find a renewed experience. We have prepared new obstacles and courses, a new t-shirt, new participation categories, and many surprises, but we also wanted to maintain the essence that has brought Desafío de Guerreros this far," she stated.
