The Atalaya Park in Antequera will host the next Saturday, September 19, a new edition of the "Carmen Acedo" Neighbourhood Festival, a day of community open to all residents of the city, its neighbourhoods, and districts. The event will take place from 11:00 to 00:00.
The activity was presented this Wednesday at a press conference by the mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón; the deputy mayor responsible for Citizen Cooperation, Alberto Arana; the councillor for Family, Seniors, Equity and Childhood, María Sierras; the president of the San Juan Neighbourhood Association, Yiya García, and the district mayor of Bobadilla, Juliana Torreblanca, representing the Juan García Neighbourhood Association.
The mayor highlighted that this is a festival dedicated "to all Antequerans" and recalled the significance of keeping the name Carmen Acedo in the festival, "to remember her work, her dedication over so many years in various neighbourhood associations and the effort she made to improve the lives of citizens".
The programme will include inclusive and awareness-raising games, popular paella, food and drink service, and live performances, as well as activities for children, young people, and families. One of the central moments will be the presentation of the "Exemplary Citizen" awards, which will recognise individuals proposed by neighbourhood associations for their commitment to their communities.
"We ask for collaboration, and collaboration means attendance. A lot of work goes into just one day, and attendance is what allows us to say it was worth it at the end," said Juliana Torreblanca.
Alberto Arana thanked the participation of the neighbourhood associations and, in particular, the collaboration of the San Juan Neighbourhood Association, which will once again be responsible for the bar and catering. Affordable prices will be maintained, with a symbolic price for the paella. Councillor María Sierras will assist with activities for children and families during the morning.
The festival will serve as a culmination of the patron saint festivities and summer activities in the neighbourhoods. Entry is free, and the day is designed for all ages.
