The Infoca Plan has been combating a forest fire in Arroyo de la Miel, Nerja, since 19:00. The operation has grown to include eight aerial resources and 76 forest firefighters.
The Infoca Plan has deployed a large operation since Tuesday afternoon to control the forest fire declared in the area of Arroyo de la Miel, in the eastern part of the municipality of Nerja. The fire started shortly after 19:00 and has necessitated the closure of the access road to the area to facilitate the work of emergency teams.
The Andalusian forest fire response has progressively increased its resources as the flames evolved. Currently, eight aerial resources are working on the extinction, including seven helicopters and one coordination plane, along with 76 forest firefighters, two fire engines, and one medical unit.
The fire is affecting a vegetated area around the river of Miel, a popular spot for hiking and recreational use. The access road remains closed while the firefighting services work to contain the advance of the fire, as reported by Infoca.
The efforts are focused on protecting nearby homes and preventing the flames from spreading to other areas of the municipality. So far, no personal injuries or evacuations have been reported, although the evolution of the fire is under constant monitoring.
The operation will remain active for the next few hours, and aerial resources are expected to continue water drops at least until nightfall, when conditions usually complicate operations. Local residents should exercise extreme caution and respect the established traffic closures.
