The Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano del Área de Málaga will open temporary in-person attention points in Vélez-Málaga and Torre del Mar from May 2026 to assist users with transport cards and queries.
The Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano del Área de Málaga (CTMAM) has announced the opening of two temporary in-person user service points in the Axarquía region. Starting in May 2026, residents of Vélez-Málaga and Torre del Mar will be able to resolve transport-related issues face-to-face without traveling to the main office in Málaga city. This initiative aims to improve accessibility for users who may have difficulty using digital channels.
The temporary points will be located at the municipal offices in Vélez-Málaga and the Torre del Mar civic centre. Staff will handle applications for the Tarjeta de Transporte, the Tarjeta Joven, and the family large card, as well as process renewals and provide general information about tariffs and routes. The service will operate on weekdays from 9:00 to 14:00 and on specific afternoons by appointment.
This is not the first time the CTMAM has deployed temporary attention points. In 2024, similar pop-up services were set up in Ronda and Antequera, which reduced complaints by 15% in those areas, according to the consortium's annual report. The move responds to increasing demand for in-person assistance, particularly among elderly users and those unfamiliar with digital platforms.
According to CTMAM data, the Axarquía region accounts for about 20% of all service requests in the province, yet has no permanent office. The temporary points are expected to serve over 1,000 users per month. The service will run from May 4 to October 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension based on demand.
Users are advised to bring their ID and any relevant documents when visiting. The exact addresses are: Plaza de San Francisco, s/n, in Vélez-Málaga (old town hall) and Avenida de Andalucía, 12, in Torre del Mar (civic centre). For more information, the CTMAM phone line (900 123 456) operates 24/7.
