A woman in her 30s has been found dead this Monday in a home in Antequera with signs of violence and stab wounds. The National Police is investigating the crime as a new case of gender-based violence.

The lifeless body of a woman in her 30s was located on Monday morning inside a residence in Antequera. The victim had multiple stab wounds, which immediately activated the National Police protocol due to the suspicion of murder.

According to initial investigations, the alleged perpetrator is her ex-partner, who subsequently took his own life. Officers found the man's body in the same property, reinforcing the hypothesis of a gender-based crime followed by suicide.

A Call Alerted Emergency Services

It was around 12:00 hours when the Emergency Centre 112 received a call alerting of a possible assault in a home in the locality. Several patrols from the National Police and medical personnel were dispatched to the scene, who could only confirm the woman's death.

Local residents expressed their shock at the incident. “You couldn’t hear anything, they were a normal couple,” stated a resident who requested to remain anonymous. The investigation remains open to clarify the exact circumstances of the event.

Three Gender-Based Crimes in the Province in Less Than a Month

This murder adds to three other recent cases in the province of Málaga. On July 1, the body of a 35-year-old woman from Ciudad Jardín was found in a well in Rincón de la Victoria. Her ex-partner confessed to having stabbed her weeks earlier.

Just seven days later, a 61-year-old woman and her 31-year-old daughter were found dead in their home in Mijas. According to investigations, the partner of the older woman allegedly committed the double murder with a knife and then attempted to set fire to the home to cover up the events.

The Victim's Profile and Institutional Response

The woman murdered in Antequera, of whom no further details have been provided, adds to the list of fatalities due to gender violence in Andalusia. The Antequera City Council has called for a minute of silence for this Tuesday at the doors of the Town Hall in a sign of rejection.

The Government Delegation against Gender Violence has reminded that the 016 phone line is available to all victims 24 hours a day, in 52 languages and confidentially. “You are not alone,” official sources have stated.

This new crime raises the total to four gender-based murders in the province of Málaga so far this year, a figure that has raised alarms among women's associations and administrations. The Government sub-delegate in Málaga has expressed her “strongest condemnation” and called for the unity of all institutions to eradicate this scourge.
