Improvements at the Campillo Bajo health centre
Antequera was the setting for the visit of Patricia Navarro, the Andalusian Government delegate in Málaga, who highlighted the improvements in healthcare infrastructure in the province. During her inspection of the Campillo Bajo health centre, Navarro noted that investments in healthcare have exceeded €360 million since Juanma Moreno took office as president of the Junta of Andalucía.
Ongoing projects and recovery of healthcare services
The delegate was accompanied by the mayor of Antequera, Manolo Barón, and other healthcare representatives. In her speech, Navarro emphasized the importance of the recovery of Extrahospital Emergency Services in 2022 at this health centre, which was closed in 2010 by previous governments. The current works have a budget of €2.8 million and are expected to be completed within 12 months.
The improvements in healthcare in the Antequera region include the creation of 52 new structural positions in Primary Care and a significant increase in the number of professionals. This effort translates into a 23.3% increase in the number of workers at the Antequera Hospital since 2019.
Navarro stated that the investment in healthcare in Málaga is the highest in history, ensuring not only more infrastructure but also better working conditions for professionals in the sector.
The future Campillo Bajo health centre, which will feature multiple services, represents a crucial advancement in primary care for the people of Antequera. Additionally, it is estimated that the new Emergency point, opened last year, serves over 30,000 people annually, facilitating access to care and alleviating pressure on other healthcare centres.
