The Sacred Heart of Jesus School and the Association of Commerce, Business and Industry of Antequera (ACIA) have signed an agreement to open the Salesian facilities for training and employment activities.
The Sacred Heart of Jesus School in Antequera and the Association of Commerce, Business and Industry of Antequera and Open Shopping Centre (ACIA) have reached an agreement that will allow local businesses to use the spaces of the Salesian centre to develop training, professional and employment activities. The agreement, signed by the school director, Francisco Javier González, and the president of ACIA, Jorge del Pino García, will have an initial duration of two years with the possibility of extension, as reported by Diario Sur.
The aim is for both the association and its member companies to use the school's rooms and equipment for networking meetings, technical days, conferences, round tables, seminars, courses for workers and managers, product presentations, exhibitions or trade fairs. Employment orientation programmes and business visits aimed at students and families are also planned, with the intention of bringing the productive world closer to the educational community.
The parties see the agreement as a way to "harmonise the processes of teaching and learning with the real needs of the local productive fabric." The Salesians will provide the facilities, while ACIA will disseminate the available resources among its members and collaborate in promoting meetings organised by the school that may interest entrepreneurs, freelancers and professionals in the city.
The Salesian school offers education in Primary, Secondary and Vocational Training, in addition to its traditional Home School, which adds a training dimension to the agreement. ACIA, which celebrated 41 years of activity last April, groups more than 200 companies and freelancers and manages the Open Shopping Centre of Antequera, whose official status was renewed by the Junta de Andalucía last February for another four years. Antequera was the first town in Andalusia to obtain this recognition.
To ensure its implementation, both institutions have established a Monitoring Commission that will meet annually to evaluate the development of the agreement and propose new activities. The schedule for the first actions has not yet been finalised, but the two-year renewable framework turns the school's facilities into a new meeting point between the educational community and the Antequera business fabric.
