The Plaza de Toros of Antequera will host the traditional Goyesca bullfight on August 23 with Juan Ortega, David de Miranda and Pablo Aguado, who will face six bulls from the Astolfi ranch.
The Plaza de Toros of Antequera will be the venue next Sunday, August 23, for the traditional Goyesca bullfight of the Real Feria de Agosto 2026. The lineup, presented this Monday, July 6, at the Silken Antequera Hills Hotel, will bring together the bullfighters Juan Ortega, David de Miranda and Pablo Aguado, who will confront six bulls from the Astolfi ranch.
The bullfighting entrepreneur Jorge Buendía, head of Taurina de Buendía, was responsible for revealing the details of the event, accompanied by the mayor of Antequera, Manuel Jesús Barón Ríos. Buendía highlighted the significance of the event, which he described as one of the major fairs in Spain, alongside Bilbao, Almería and Cuenca.
A luxury lineup for the Antequera Goyesca
Juan Ortega returns to the Goyesca of Antequera, where he already performed three years ago in a lineup shared with Roca Rey. The bullfighter, as Buendía recalled, extended that visit until dawn exploring the city and its main monuments. David de Miranda arrives after a season of triumphs at the major fairs across the country, including the Feria de Málaga. Pablo Aguado, for his part, makes his debut at this venue after several years of discussions with the company.
“It’s a long-held desire of mine, it has been several years of conversations,” Jorge Buendía remarked about Pablo Aguado's presence in the lineup.
The three bullfighters first shared the ring together at the Feria de San Miguel in Seville in 2025. Before arriving in Antequera, they will share a lineup again in July in the Almerian town of Roquetas. The Antequera event on August 23 will, according to Buendía, be the third time they perform together.
New accessibility features and prices
The Real Feria de Agosto 2026 will kick off on Saturday, August 22, with a rejoneo bullfight featuring Andy Cartagena, Diego Ventura and Leonardo Hernández, who will face six bulls from the Benítez Cubero-Pallarés ranch. Cartagena could not perform in Antequera in 2025 due to a groin injury; this year he will be present.
The municipal area of Historical Heritage, led by José Manuel Medina Galeote, has established a new access point for people with reduced mobility through the Puerta del Sol of the Plaza de Toros. The venue also features a renovated and adapted restroom, and a new box with both sunny and shaded seating for wheelchair users. Fans attending the Goyesca will be able to enjoy these improvements that facilitate access for all audiences.
Ticket sales and subscriptions will soon be available through the usual online channel of Taurina de Buendía and a permanent customer service phone line. The physical box office at the Plaza de Toros will open from Monday, August 10. Prices remain the same as the previous edition, with discounts for clubs, retirees, groups, and season ticket holders.
The Goyesca of Antequera, which will celebrate its centenary in 2028, is consolidating itself as an essential event in the Andalusian bullfighting calendar. The residents of Antequera and visitors to the fair will be able to enjoy a celebration that combines tradition and top-level bullfighters, with a lineup that promises strong emotions in the arena. Tickets, at the same price as last year, will be available from mid-August so as not to miss this event.
