The Junta de Andalucía has activated an alert due to the presence of listeria in a batch of Iberian fuet distributed in Antequera. It is recommended not to consume the product and to return it to the point of sale.
The Health and Consumer Department of the Junta de Andalucía has reported a food alert affecting a batch of Iberian fuet from the brand Cárnicas Sierra Nevada, after detecting the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. The product has been distributed in establishments in Antequera, among other Andalusian municipalities.
The affected batch is number 260521, with a preferred consumption date of 21 November 2026. Produced by a company based in the province of Granada, the fuet began to be marketed from 11 June in locations such as Antequera, Granada city, Maracena, Láchar, and Lanjarón.
As a precautionary measure, the department has ordered the immediate withdrawal of this batch from all points of sale. Individuals who have the product at home should refrain from consuming it and return it to the establishment where it was purchased.
Listeriosis, a disease caused by the bacteria Listeria monocytogenes, can cause symptoms such as fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. In the event of these signs appearing after consuming the product, health authorities recommend visiting a health centre.
Particular attention should be paid to pregnant women, as listeria poses a high risk during pregnancy. The Junta reminds them to follow the guidelines of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) regarding food consumption during pregnancy.
The incidence has already been communicated to AESAN, and official control services are verifying the withdrawal of the product from commercial channels. Additionally, it is emphasized to maintain proper hygiene in food handling to avoid possible cross-contaminations.
For consumers in Antequera, the alert serves as a direct warning: check the Iberian fuets recently purchased and verify the batch number and preferred consumption date. In case of doubt, the safest option is not to consume it and to contact the point of sale.
