The district of Antequera celebrates its 2026 Fair from July 23 to 26 with a programme that combines tradition and new features. The promotional poster is the work of local resident Daniel Trujillo Carrasco, winner of the competition.

Cartaojal, a district of Antequera, is preparing to experience four days of intense festive activity. From July 23 to 26, the town will host its 2026 Fair, an event that this year includes everything from sports exhibitions to culinary competitions, as well as musical performances and children's activities. The organisation is managed by the Neighbourhood Association, which has designed a programme aimed at all ages.

A competition poster and a much-anticipated opening speech

The image of the fair is the work of local resident Daniel Trujillo Carrasco, winner of the poster competition, which has stood out for its quality. The opening speech will be given by Ana Belén Pérez, a well-known figure in the locality. On Thursday, July 23, at 21:00, the lighting will be turned on, followed by the crowning of the Queen, Ladies, and Mister of the Fair.

The inaugural day will include a motorcycle ribbon exhibition, a children's show, and to close the night, the music of DJ Castro. The events will start at 20:00 with the motorcycle exhibition, and the opening speech will take place at 22:00 in the Municipal Tent.

Sport, music, and tradition for all tastes

Friday, July 24, will be dedicated to sports and youth. In the morning, at 10:00, the foosball tournament will kick off, followed by giant inflatables. In the afternoon, at 18:00, the final of the paddle tournament will be held, and at 20:00 there will be a skating exhibition. The adult football tournament will begin at 21:00. The night will feature a performance by Los Curros at 23:00, and once again DJ Castro will provide the musical finale.

Saturday, July 25, is the main day. At 10:00, the vintage vehicle exhibition will start, and at 12:00 the traditional porra and tortilla competition will take place, with a popular tasting organised by the Neighbourhood Association. Live music will arrive at 14:00 with a performance by Origen. In the afternoon, at 17:00, there will be a PlayStation tournament, and at 19:00, the much-anticipated Crazy Cars race. The night will feature performances by Ziryab at 22:00 and the Tribute to the Barrio at 00:00, followed by DJ Castro until dawn.

Closing Sunday with a taste of tradition

Sunday, July 26, will be the farewell day. At 11:00, the flamenco dress competition will be held, and at 12:00 Cuatro Compás will perform. At 14:00, there will be a paella tasting, and at 17:00, the cake competition. In the afternoon, at 18:00, there will be bicycle ribbon exhibitions and hand carts. The day will conclude with a dinner for retirees at 20:00, a copla performance, and the awards ceremony at 22:00.

For the residents of Antequera and visitors, the Cartaojal Fair is an opportunity to enjoy a festive atmosphere in a rural setting. The Neighbourhood Association has worked for months to offer a varied programme that keeps traditions alive. Last year, the fair already saw a great turnout, and it is expected that this 2026 will exceed expectations. All events are free to access and will take place in the town square and the Municipal Tent.

The complete programme is available for download via a link provided by the organisation. Interested parties can check the schedules and detailed activities to ensure they do not miss any event.
