The Antequera district faces this Saturday the most participative day of its festivities, with the anticipated race of handmade vehicles, food contests, and musical performances.
The Antequera district of Cartaojal is experiencing its third day of the fair this Saturday, July 25, a day that began with an exhibition of vintage vehicles and features the traditional Crazy Car Race as its main attraction, scheduled for 18:00. The event, held on Antequera street next to Cuesta Pardo park, brings together locals and visitors around the ingenuity and humour of the participants, who compete with handmade cars designed by themselves.
The morning started at 10:00 with an elegant exhibition of vintage vehicles at Restaurante Casa Caro, a draw for classic car enthusiasts. From 12:00, the Municipal Tent becomes the gastronomic epicentre of the town with the porra and tortilla contest, two typical dishes of the area. At 13:00, the Neighbourhood Association offers a tasting of these dishes accompanied by beer, enlivened by the performance of the musical group Origen at 13:30.
For the younger crowd, the afternoon kicks off with a Playstation tournament at the Multi-Purpose Building at 15:00. However, the event generating the most excitement is undoubtedly the Crazy Car Race, which starts at 18:00. A large turnout is expected around Cuesta Pardo park, where participants showcase their creativity with wacky vehicles racing through an urban stretch.
As night falls, music will take centre stage again. The Municipal Tent will host a performance by Ziryab at 22:30, followed at 00:30 by the Tribute to Barrio, a group that covers the greatest hits of Spanish pop-rock. The party will continue into the early hours of the morning with a new DJ session by Castro, from 02:30 to 06:00.
The Cartaojal fair, held every year in July, is one of the most significant events on the festive calendar of the Antequera region. This Saturday's programme combines tradition, leisure, and citizen participation, with activities for all ages. The organisation has planned safety and traffic measures in the race area to ensure the event runs smoothly.
