The Junta de Andalucía has initiated the procedures for a new tender for the adaptation of the old Nororma school as a judicial headquarters, after the first tender was unsuccessful. The project includes security improvements to separate the flows of victims and defendants.
The project to move the courts from Archidona to the old Nororma building is back on track. The Junta de Andalucía is already working on drafting a new document to tender the adaptation works of the property, after the first contracting procedure was unsuccessful. The new document will incorporate technical modifications and additional security requirements.
The first tender could not be completed because the companies that submitted bids failed to provide the required legal documentation to formalise the contract. In light of this situation, the territorial delegation has opted to review the project before re-tendering the works.
One of the main innovations of this new document will be the incorporation of new security conditions conveyed by the Civil Guard. These measures are particularly related to the organisation of internal routes and the separation of the different individuals who attend the courts daily.
As explained by the territorial delegate for Justice, Local Administration and Public Function, Teresa Pardo, the future facilities must ensure that victims and defendants do not coincide in the passage areas. Separate waiting areas and distinct routes will be created. The aim is to adapt the building to the current operational requirements of a judicial headquarters and to enhance both security and user support.
The old Nororma is located on Santo Domingo Street and has three floors and a total area of 1,228 square metres. Its transformation will nearly double the 600 square metres currently available to the courts, located on Carrera Street. This will represent a significant improvement for judicial service in the Nororma region.
The move is made possible by the agreement reached between the Junta and the City Council to exchange both properties. The operation, formalised earlier this year, involved the transfer of the old school to the regional administration and the handover of the current judicial headquarters to the City Council, along with a payment of €269,121 to compensate for the value difference between the two buildings.
With this new tender, the Junta hopes to expedite the works and provide Archidona with modern and secure judicial facilities. The deadline for submitting bids will be announced soon, once the new document is complete. The residents of the town and nearby municipalities will be the main beneficiaries, as they will have access to a broader service better adapted to current needs.
