The City Council of Antequera, through the company CHEMAP, is conducting a preventive campaign against cockroaches and insects. The second phase will begin on July 6.

The Environment Area of the City Council of Antequera has launched its usual preventive pest control campaign, focused on cockroaches and other insects, with the aim of reducing their proliferation during the warmer months. The work, carried out by the specialized company CHEMAP, is divided into two phases: the first began on April 16 and the second is scheduled for the upcoming July 6.

The delegated councillor for the Environment, María Enrile, has explained that these treatments are carried out periodically in public spaces, sanitation systems, and sensitive areas of the municipality. “Municipal action in public spaces is essential, but private collaboration is also crucial to achieve greater control and prevention,” Enrile stated.

The campaign is anticipated each year before the arrival of summer, when high temperatures favour the emergence of insects. This time, the first phase has already been completed, and the second will serve to reinforce the usual areas and address new needs detected. The second phase will begin on Monday, July 6, as confirmed by the City Council.

The Environment Area has reminded the importance of citizen collaboration to maintain patios, basements, vacant lots, garages, and community areas in good condition, avoiding accumulations of dirt or moisture that could foster pests. Enrile has thanked the involvement of individuals and property communities that carry out complementary treatments in private spaces.

This initiative is part of the municipality's annual planning of preventive work, which aims to ensure adequate health conditions in public spaces during spring and summer. This year's campaign has been brought forward compared to previous seasons, as a preventive measure against the increase in temperatures recorded in the region.

The residents of Antequera can find more information about the dates and affected areas on the City Council's website or by contacting the Environment Area. It is recommended to follow municipal guidelines to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment.
