The Royal Collegiate of Santa María hosted the screening of the first episode of the new season on Thursday, 8th October, with the presence of Mayor Manolo Barón. It is the only non-provincial capital city included in these premieres.

The Royal Collegiate of Santa María in Antequera was the chosen venue for the premiere of the first chapter of the sixth season of 'The Chosen', the international series about the life of Jesus of Nazareth. The screening took place on the afternoon of Thursday, 8th October and was attended by the mayor, Manolo Barón, who greeted the audience before the screening.

Antequera is the only non-provincial capital city in Spain included in this initiative to premiere the first episode of the new season. After the screening, a dialogue table was held focusing on the episode and the series itself.

The programming continued on the morning of Friday, 9th October with screenings aimed at students from local schools, which took place in the same venue.

'The Chosen' is created and directed by Dallas Jenkins and stars Jonathan Roumie as Jesus. The series tells the Gospel stories from the perspective of those who knew him, paying attention to the personal stories of the disciples and Mary Magdalene, in the context of the 1st century.

According to data published by the production company 5&2 Studios and Prime Video, the show has surpassed 300 million viewers worldwide. In addition to its distribution on platforms, episodes can be viewed through its own website and app.

"Antequera is the only non-provincial capital city in Spain where this premiere of the first episode of the new season is taking place," according to the event's organisers.

The premiere in Antequera adds to the screenings held in other Spanish cities, although in this case, the event took place in a municipality that is not a provincial capital.
